GDPR
WHAT IS GDPR?
As of 05/25/2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has come into force in all EU member countries, including Bulgaria. It replaces the European Union's Data Protection Directive, which has been in force since 1995.
The purpose of the GDPR is to unify and update the policies of EU member countries related to the collection, storage and use of personal data. The regulation guarantees the right to privacy and protection of personal data. More details can be found in the official document distributed by the Commission for the Protection of Personal Data (CPPD).
WHAT CONTROL DOES GDPR PROVIDE?
The GDPR guarantees EU citizens full control over the data they provide to different companies, regardless of their activity or size. Every citizen has the right to dispose of his personal data provided to any company. This includes requesting a copy of your personal information, permanently extracting all data, or having the company delete all information.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN GDPR REQUIREMENTS?
The GDPR requires each organization to answer the following questions: what personal data it uses; why it processes the data in question; how long will it store this data or what are the criteria for the storage period; with whom the data will be shared; and whether personal data will be transferred outside the EU. Also, GDPR obliges organizations to seek consent from EU citizens to provide their data to third parties; to guarantee the right to request or correct the data, their deletion, as well as to "be forgotten".
